Francisco Boix was a photographer from Barcelona, Spain. As a republican in the Spanish Civil War, he was exiled in France and joined the French army. In 1940, he was captured by the Germans and sent to Mauthausen concentration camp. Throughout his capture, he worked as the photographer of the camp administration taking ID photos of inmates and documenting events. In 1946 at the Nuremberg trial, the photos he took were used as evidence of the cruelty and poor conditions in the concentration camp.
