archive as Urban Narrative

Historical significance is the concept that defines social remembrance of past events in history studies. It is conducted by judging the person or event with certain pre-defined criteria, criteria that are often subjective and perhaps prejudiced intentionally or accidentally.

Significant events such as WW2, with no doubt, pass the trial in the sense of its influence has lasted for a long period and effected a great number of people. But in this section, I want to narrow it down to specific groups and communities by emphasising on the subjectivity in historical significance. As significance depends on one’s perspective and role, the stories here acquire significance through the connection with social trends and certain collectives that show importance in today’s world.
